What are the causes?
- Water ingress
- Flooding or container lost overboard
- Torn door gaskets / rubbers
- Hole in container Flooding at port
- Flooding in container hold
- Water ingress through dents, bents, cracks from improper previous container repairs, etc.
Documents needed:
- 3 Day notification to carrier
- Pre-shipment inspection report
- Pre-shipment photographs
- Water / lab test report (in case of flooding)
- Post-shipment inspection report and photographs
- Salvage invoice
- Destruction certificate
Loss Prevention Advice:
- Pre-shipment and post shipment inspection
- Container pictures and /or video to prove the cause of the damage
- Loss mitigation actions, when possible
- Follow good industry practices for packing and shipping specific cargo
- Invite carrier to attend joint Survey!
