Reefer Freight Rates Hit All-New High as new 12 months contracts are being negotiated and renewed, #shippers are finding there has been a 60% raise when shipping between the west coast of America and the Far East.
@PatrikBerglund, @Xeneta CEO, states, “With the escalating cost of energy prices, and the recent strength of the market for ocean freight in general, shippers would have expected some pain at the negotiating table. This is an almighty increase, pushing prices to an all-time high.”
With such an increase, exporters will be looking to recoup whatever losses they can by looking into the cargo claim market, and this market could see a large increase in claims as more shippers will not want to soak up costs of their losses by being fobbed off by the Goliath carriers🚢
Some exporters will try their hand at shorter contracts hoping to pay less, but for business planning and logistics this isn’t always possible and long contracts need to be in place making better business sense in the long-term.
